Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. He used the money from these sales to establish a public record bureau. The Post Office has grown to be a business that allows people sending and receiving cards without having to think about how to reply. And while it’s a small gesture, sending a Christmas card can be just as important as sending one!
There are many types of cards you can send. In the United States, Christmas cards were first produced by a German printer in the late 1840s. They were expensive and not affordable for most people. In the United Kingdom, the first commercial Christmas card was made in 1915 by a Boston lithographer named Louis Prang. This process allowed for a very realistic image of the holiday, and allowed for the production of five million cards in a single year.
