Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. He used the money he earned from these sales to set up a public record office. As a result, the Post Office has evolved into a business that allows people to send and receive cards without having to worry about how to reply. Even though it is a small gesture to send a Christmas card, it can be just as important!
There are several types of cards that you can send. In the late 1840s, a German printer produced the first Christmas cards in America. They were very expensive, and most people could not afford them. Louis Prang, an American lithographer from Boston, created the first ever commercial Christmas card in the United Kingdom. This process allowed for a very realistic image of the holiday, and allowed for the production of five million cards in a single year.
