Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. The money he made from these sales was used to open a public records office. As a result, the Post Office has evolved into a business that allows people to send and receive cards without having to worry about how to reply. And while it’s a small gesture, sending a Christmas card can be just as important as sending one!
There are several different types of cards that can be sent. In the United States, Christmas cards were first produced by a German printer in the late 1840s. They were extremely expensive and could not be afforded by most people. Louis Prang, an American lithographer from Boston, created the first ever commercial Christmas card in the United Kingdom. This allowed for a very realistic holiday image and allowed for five millions cards to be made in one year.
