In the year 1843, Henry Cole, the first man to sell Christmas cards in London, sold them for one shilling. The money he made from these sales was used to open a public records office. The Post Office has grown to be a business that allows people sending and receiving cards without having to think about how to reply. It may seem like a small gesture, but sending a Christmas gift card can be just the same as sending one.

There are several different types of cards that can be sent. In the late 1840s, a German printer produced the first Christmas cards in America. They were expensive and not affordable for most people. In the United Kingdom, the first commercial Christmas card was made in 1915 by a Boston lithographer named Louis Prang. This allowed for a more realistic representation of the holiday and allowed for five million cards to be produced in one year.
