Henry Cole, the first man in London to sell Christmas cards, sold them for 1 shilling in 1843. He used the money from these sales to establish a public record bureau. As a result, the Post Office has evolved into a business that allows people to send and receive cards without having to worry about how to reply. It’s a small gesture but sending a Christmas greeting card can be as important as sending one.
There are several types of cards that you can send. In the late 1840s, a German printer produced the first Christmas cards in America. They were very expensive, and most people could not afford them. Louis Prang, an American lithographer from Boston, created the first ever commercial Christmas card in the United Kingdom. This process allowed for a very realistic picture of the holiday and allowed the production of five millions cards in one year.
