Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. He used the money from these sales to establish a public record bureau. The Post Office has grown to be a business that allows people sending and receiving cards without having to think about how to reply. Even though it is a small gesture to send a Christmas card, it can be just as important!
There are many different types of cards you could send. In the United States, Christmas cards were first produced by a German printer in the late 1840s. They were very costly and many people couldn’t afford them. In the United Kingdom, the first commercial Christmas card was made in 1915 by a Boston lithographer named Louis Prang. This allowed for a more realistic representation of the holiday and allowed for five million cards to be produced in one year.
