Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. He used the money from these sales to establish a public record bureau. The Post Office evolved into a business that allows people send and receive cards without worrying about how to respond. And while it’s a small gesture, sending a Christmas card can be just as important as sending one!
There are several types of cards that you can send. The United States’ first Christmas card was printed in 1840 by a German printer. They were expensive and not affordable for most people. In the United Kingdom, the first commercial Christmas card was made in 1915 by a Boston lithographer named Louis Prang. This process allowed for a very realistic picture of the holiday and allowed the production of five millions cards in one year.
