Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. He used the money he earned from these sales to set up a public record office. The Post Office was born. It allows people to send and get cards without worrying about how they will reply. It’s a small gesture but sending a Christmas greeting card can be as important as sending one.
There are several types of cards that you can send. The United States’ first Christmas card was printed in 1840 by a German printer. They were very expensive, and most people could not afford them. Louis Prang, an American lithographer from Boston, created the first ever commercial Christmas card in the United Kingdom. This allowed for a very realistic holiday image and allowed for five millions cards to be made in one year.
