In the year 1843, Henry Cole, the first man to sell Christmas cards in London, sold them for one shilling. The money he made from these sales was used to open a public records office. As a result, the Post Office has evolved into a business that allows people to send and receive cards without having to worry about how to reply. It may seem like a small gesture, but sending a Christmas gift card can be just the same as sending one.
There are several types of cards that you can send. In the United States, Christmas cards were first produced by a German printer in the late 1840s. They were very costly and many people couldn’t afford them. Louis Prang, a Boston-based lithographer, made the first Christmas card commercially in the United Kingdom. This allowed for a more realistic representation of the holiday and allowed for five million cards to be produced in one year.
