Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. He used the money he had made from these sales in order to set up a public information office. The Post Office was born. It allows people to send and get cards without worrying about how they will reply. It’s a small gesture but sending a Christmas greeting card can be as important as sending one.
There are many types of cards you can send. The United States’ first Christmas card was printed in 1840 by a German printer. They were very costly and many people couldn’t afford them. Louis Prang, a Boston lithographer, created the first commercial Christmas card in the United Kingdom in 1915. This process allowed for a very realistic image of the holiday, and allowed for the production of five million cards in a single year.
