Henry Cole was the first man to sell Christmas card in London in 1843. He sold them for one shilling. He used the money he earned from these sales to set up a public record office. The Post Office evolved into a business that allows people send and receive cards without worrying about how to respond. It may seem like a small gesture, but sending a Christmas gift card can be just the same as sending one.
There are many different types of cards you could send. In the United States, Christmas cards were first produced by a German printer in the late 1840s. They were very costly and many people couldn’t afford them. Louis Prang, a Boston lithographer, created the first commercial Christmas card in the United Kingdom in 1915. This process allowed for a very realistic image of the holiday, and allowed for the production of five million cards in a single year.
